Ankle weights

Hello everybody, I have just joined Runway fitness. I am not new to working out but I have to say, I have not exercised in a while.

As for ankle weights (I see some workouts include them), what weight should I go for? I was thinking 1kg on each ankle should be okay for me but I do not want to get big calves.

Also, any suggestions as for the best brands to shop for?
